Poured from a 12 oz can bought at the taprom in Apex, NC.
L – Dark and opaque, it appears to be a very deep mahogany brown around the edges when held up to the light. Moderately thick, light tan head fades to some swirls on the surface and some lacing on the glass.
S – Great aromas for a Baltic porter. Raisins, prunes, light roasted grain and a hint of smoke. Light sulfur hints that it is a lager, as is appropriate for the style.
T – Flavors match the aromas, with dried fruits in the foreground. Low smoke and roastiness behind them. Hops seem to be there as a low herbal, woody note that adds depth.
F – Medium body with low to moderate carbonation. Medium hops bitterness. Noticeable alcohol presence, but not boozy.
O – This is a very nice beer and a good example of a somewhat rare style.
