I am not sure if I had the Heaven Hill or Four Roses; it was a purple was.
Cellared since May.
I was not sure what to expect with this, but was pleasantly surprised.
The beer is well-carbonated and dark. There was practically no wood in the taste and the bourbon was mild and sweet. Heavenly almost.
The alcohol is not too strong, which allows the beer to speak for itself.
Overall, it was a smooth and sweet beer and the bourbon barrel was a nice complement.
The body was a bit light, but the delicious flavors compensated well.

Rating is from the tap at the release a couple of months back. This one needed some significant time to age and chill out. Picked up a bottle, will sit on it for a good while before I revisit this one but I think the time will do wonders.

Looks good on the pour. Nose is very boozy. Flavor brings much of the same. Supposedly this is the milder one? Oh my. Not sure how I feel about touching the Four Roses after that info. It isn't that it's a straight booze bomb, but the bourbon has clearly laid the smack down on this beer. And what is there doesn't really have a particularly distinct profile. Quite bold. Nice drinker, though I'm only good for several ounces on this one and wouldn't go for it again; too strong and not enough subtleties showing. I'm definitely feeling it off this one.
