This one pours a fairly dark black color, with a small wispy head, and just a little bit of lacing.
This smells like spicy whiskey and oak, roasted malt, dark chocolate, and vanilla.
The base stout is really good and represented well - there's still a good bitter roastiness that melds well with the (not too) sweet vanilla. There's a pleasant and not really boozy barrel character - caramel, bourbon, more vanilla, oak spice, etc.
This is medium bodied, with a nice bite on the back end, and a nice creamy body throughout.
Pastry lovers might not find this bold enough in the vanilla and sugar department, but I like the fact that it's a good roasty stout first. The barrel and vanilla only add to that.

Bomber poured into a Spoonwood Brewing snifter:
Look: Amazing jet black color with a nice tan head!
Smell: Bourbon, oak, and chocolate notes!
Taste: More of the same on the taste as the nose! Nice bourbon notes along with some chocolate and vanilla! Vanilla comes out more as this beer warms up as I really wasn't getting it much on the nose!
Feel: Nice medium to full mouthfeel!
Overall: Very nice Bourbon Barrel Russian Imperial Stout from the crew at Brew Gents! These guys never disappoint! Hope this one comes around again in the future as I would definitely grab this again as this is one fantastic brew!
