Pours a small dark chocolate color in a Moa snifter. 1/2 F head.

Excellent aroma: notes of coffee and chocolate.

The body is light.

The taste is a sharp cocoa taste, with a very sharp finish.
I don’t like this in a milk stout which is supposed to be sweeter and smoother.

Is there lactose added?

The chocolate tastes are excellent. The stout should be smoother and possibly smoother- this milk stout is neither. Retweaking the recipe is a possibility for a smoother, sweeter milk stout.

Best at 45°-48°.

A nice stout, nothing to complain about. Has a nice balnce that does not allow the lactose sweetness to be too forward.
Flavor is more coffee than chocolate, with a high roast malt backbone.
Good but not memorable.

Smallish beige head which settles to rim bubbles. Some streaks for lace. Dark color -- no light passes.

Deep dark chocolate aroma. Not very bitter, nor is this sweet to the nose.

A straight up stout with cocoa nibs as the main feature for the taste. The body and carbonation are similar to the dry Irish stouts. The aftertaste is like semisweet chocolate.

On tap at Morse Block & Deli, Barre, Vermont.
Though this was poured into a mason jar, I get what's going on. Here's the rest of my thoughts.
The appearance was a nice dark brown close to black color with a finger's worth of white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Some light stringy lace ran around the glass and slid off fairly slow.
The aroma had a superb blend of sweet milk chocolate tones rolling over a light vanilla bean note and then meshing with some dark cocoa powdery sort of substance. Light coffee tones underneath.
The flavor leaned milk chocolate sweet at first and then seemed to develop more of a balanced sort of appeal with the roasty notes coming for further depth. Nice mobile roasty to smooth sweet aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sessionability about it as the roastiness wasn't distracting but aided in a well done texture - somewhat gripping yet refined in it's smoothness. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt as projected.
Overall, definitely one of the more balanced "milk/sweet stouts" that isn't overly sweet. Fans of the style may like this but do note it's not cloyingly sweet like many of the style.
