Looks just as much like an amber ale as it does a barleywine, instead of leaning brown, this one comes up amber, even a slightly lighter than average amber color if you will. Didn't yield a head. Pretty weak appearance for a barleywine. Aroma was not malt forward. Instead you got the cereal adjunct aspect of the beer. Pastry barleywine in da house.
Taste was a mellow easy going vibe. Plenty of sugar and lactose seem to let this one coast across the palate effortlessly. Alcohol well hidden, no bitterness, but also no malt heft or caramel presence. Cinnamon resides in the mouth feel. That leftover sweet milk feeling from the cereal bowl at the end. I called it an introductory level barleywine, accessable. I can dig it, I liked the sweetness. But the 8oz pour only policy is dumb as shit.
