Following the sale of half interest or whatever the ownership ratio was, Pigeonhead is now canning more hoppy beers, because you know, smoked maibocks don't pay the bills. Pours a yellow color with 2/5" white head, good clarity, looks like decent stuff. Aroma was ok, nothing phenomenal, a little bit of Mosaic, a bunch of filler Magnum and Cashmere hops that don't do much aroma wise.
Taste is pretty easy going, the hoppiness is pushed by the Magnum bitterness, there is a little bit of the Mosankness and then that contributory Cashmere hop that gives it a tree like mild bitterness component like Juniper or something. The mouth feel was good flavor wise, but the under carbonation was unfortunate.
I think if they used less Cashmere/Magnum, and went with more Mosaic and carbonation, this beer would be in 4/5 territory. At $3 a can, its a decent purchase and might convert some people over.
