So right off the bat, while they call this Hazy River and list it as a hazy ipa, it really isn't. Its cloudy, and by all appearances and impressions drinking wise, there is no flaked wheat or oats here.
Its a usual golden yellow color with cloudiness, 1/3" white head. The aroma doesn't push hard despite the use of Mosaic and Citra hops. I think this is one of those beers where they use a little of the sexy proprietary hops (those) and then 90% of the rest of the hop bill are the less sexy ones (Wai-Iti and El Dorado).
Taste has a mild bitterness and light citrus and tropical fruit notes. The bitterness isn't huge, but the malt base seems entirely barley, and that's cool and all, but difficult to surmise how this is a hazy ipa beyond the mere cloudiness of an unfiltered dry hopped beer. It was a slight change in direction, they really tried not making ipas, but ultimately, you gotta keep the lights on. This was a decent attempt.
