Called an imperial IPL, but hey, we make do with the categorizations as they come at us. Anyways, more than 2 years later adding it here and the first to review the beer.
Pours a light amber color, seems noticeably darker than their maybe flagship IPL? 1/3" off white head. Aroma hits the dusty maltiness, the lager yeast isn't any stronger than the mostly neutral one of the flagshippish version.
Taste, i dunno, this is a lot of malt for a "pilsner". Basically tastes like their flagship, but with more bitterness and caramel malt going into it, the ol' pacnw ibu war all bittering hops kind of beer. Relatively easy to drink though despite the increased alcohol, malt and bitterness, perhaps this really is just a boatload of pilsner malt. Carbonation on point. I'd guess there is still mostly Cascade hops here like the smaller flagship version. Similar claims of Mosaic and Amarillo are massively overshadowed by the bittering hops. Enjoyable as a bitter neutral lager kind of IIPL.
