Man its so bittersweet doing all these reviews from beers I consumed at BeerNV. This is one of them.
Pours a brilliant yellow with great clarity. I've noticed kolsch's often have a chill haze to them, but this bucked that trend. 1/3" white head. Good enough retention. Aroma hit that light fruitiness of a yeast fermented differently as was the kolsch style at the time.
The taste settles into a light malty breadiness while maintaining the levity in the mouthfeel department. Tiny fractional hit of like pink grapefruit, apple and hay taste wise. Carbonation appropriate for style mouthfeel direction. Hop profile out of the way per style as well. Checks the refreshing, relatively easy to drink boxes. As sick as I've been the last two weeks, this beer wouldn't taste like much with the blunted senses. But when you're fully perceptible, this one has plenty of decent nuance that is fitting for such a beer. I am in flavor country.

not the cleanest beer in the world, not as crisp as i like the best examples of the style to be, but a fine easy drinker that has some of that subtly fruity fermentation character i like in a kolsch, i recall a coffee version of this from the past that i think i liked a little better, this is pretty minimal. blonde and not quite clear, a honey richness to it, fine carbonation to drink but very little head left by the time it gets from the bar to our table in a shaker pint, i hate that look for just about any beer, saggy. the nose and taste are the same, some lightly estery character to the ferment, green apple and pear to me, off dry overall, with some lightly european grain character in the white bready or crackery pils type range. hops are light but add a compatible herbal aspect, light citrus, maybe something more than noble in play, but also maybe this was fermented a bit warmer than it could have been, like it doesnt drink tidy and brisk, and the refreshment value for me is quite low, at least in this instance, despite the light body and agreeable profile. floral as it warms, even to an almost perfume level. easy enough drinking overall, but not one of the better beers ive had from these guys...
