"We've collaborated with our friends at Ground Up Roastery and have conceived what can only be described as a magical coffee/beer love child. This stout is fortified with coffee, chocolate, oatmeal and passion. And remember, just because it's called a Breakfast Stout doesn't mean you can't have it at every meal.

650 mL bottle from the brewery; no packaging date, and served barely chilled. Haven't had this one in a few years, but I do remember enjoying it last time around (in 2018).
Pours black as night, capped with just over a finger of foamy, light tan-coloured head that lasts for five minutes or so. By that point, it has been reduced to a soapy collar, accompanied by a tight band of lacing and a few far-flung strands. Looks good, and the aroma is even better - espresso coffee stands out most strongly, but there's also cocoa, dark chocolate and roasted grains, with hints of molasses and date more easily discerned as the glass warms.
A quality brew that delivers basically everything I'd expect from a 'breakfast stout'. I'm getting rich dark chocolate, cocoa powder and dark roasted coffee at the forefront, followed up by notes of caramelized malts and roasted grains. Mild suggestions of dark fruit (date) and molasses nearer the finish; maybe a touch of vanilla, with the coffee grounds really re-asserting themselves on the back end. Finishes bitter and roasty, with hints of green coffee beans, cocoa and oatmeal sweetness dissipating into the aftertaste. Medium in body, with moderately low carbonation levels that gently agitate the palate; feels smooth and slick in the mouth - perhaps a little thinner than I like out of a breakfast stout, but I'm really stretching for complaints here. At 7%, it's straddling the line between an imperial stout and a regular one, but I find that it drinks more like the latter, as there's really no sign of the alcohol at all.
Final Grade: 4.12, an impressive A-. Over the past six or seven years, I've been lucky enough to try the lion's share of Refined Fool products, and Terry's Obnoxious Windbreaker is easily one of their top ten beers - in fact, I might even say top five. For that reason, you shouldn't hesitate to give it a try if you're presented with the opportunity - and that goes double if you're a stout fanatic. This is only available on a rotating basis, but I'll absolutely be back for more at some point.
