Very slightly hazed honey gold., Moderate head that settles to a ring, some early lace. Nose is fruity hops, not so much pineapple. Same to taste, just a hint of pineapple, sorta. Underlaid with some citrus pith. Mostly just a common IPA. Drinkable with a nice malt/hop balance. Not punch-you-in-the-face-with-hops stuff.

And, yes. I like pineapple on my pizza.

473 mL can from the brewery store; coded 21141L and served slightly chilled.

Pours a relatively clear orange-amber colour, with tiny flecks of sediment hovering throughout the liquid; it's capped off with one finger of bubbly, foamy white head that settles off within three minutes. A soapy film and collar remain in place afterwards, with an attractive swath of sticky, stringy lace also flung about behind it - looks good to me. Pineapple and stone fruit on the nose, with grainy, doughy malts and a touch of honey. A whiff from the can smells like, well, canned pineapple - so that's nice.

Hints of pineapple juice right off the bat, with grainy, bready pale malts, honey sweetness and orange coming through shortly thereafter. Finishes with some earthy, weakly resiny/spicy hops and more pineapple juice, both of these lingering into the aftertaste. Medium in body, with moderately low carbonation that gently brushes against the tongue, lending a little bit of crispness to its mostly smooth, soft texture. I could probably drink a few of these in a row, as there's a rather nice balance between the pineapple, the hop flavours and the malt sweetness.

Final Grade: 3.59, a B grade. We Danced For the Pizza Guy didn't blow me away, but I think it's still a serviceable take on the 'pineapple IPA'. I certainly can't argue that they skimped on the pineapple - and while I have no idea if they used actual fruit or a flavouring, it tastes pretty authentic to me. I'm also not in love with the hop profile, but it definitely has the bitter finish that I'd expect from an IPA. So it's not as if this is a bad beer, more like a pretty good one with some room for improvement. I wouldn't buy it on a regular basis, but then again, I don't buy pineapple beer all that often in the first place - so I'd say it's worth a shot if it sounds interesting to you.

473 ml can served cold into a pint glass. Part of the Mix IPA Pack Vol. 2.

Appearance - Copper colored brew with some haze. A finger of light tan head is poured and sticks around for a bit.

Smell - Some pineapple but forms in weird way. Musty and something overripe, maybe it's the pineapple. Not exactly an inviting aroma.

Taste - Pineapple, some earthy flavors and definitely fairly bitter and IPA like. Tastes much better than it smells. Bit of a peppery taste to close.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, with appropriate carbonation.

Overall - I don't really like the nose on this, but otherwise a solid pineapple focused IPA that doesn't stray too far from expectations.
