650 mL bottle from the brewery; no bottling date, but it was released within the past week so it's presumably fresh. 1 of 2 small batch session IPAs released simultaneously; this one has Bravo, Idaho 7 and Loral hops. Served barely chilled.
Pours a muddied, translucent golden apricot colour, with one finger of soapy, foamy white head situated atop. It lasts for a couple of minutes, quickly settling down to a bubbly, frothy collar and filmy cap; it looks ok, but the aroma is more interesting. Pink grapefruit, peach juice, red plum and melon, layered atop hints of bready, lightly caramelized malts and floral, resiny hops - very enticing.
It's pretty good - fruity and juicy at the front end, with a bitter, resiny finish. I'm getting grapefruit, peach and lemon at first, with a fair bit of bready, grainy pale malts also coming through. That's all overtaken by notes of pine resin and herbal, spicy hops at the back end, with spiciness and resin carrying on into the aftertaste. Light-medium in body, with with low-ish carbonation levels that weakly brush against the palate, giving a soft crispness to this smooth, fluffy-feeling pale ale. Reasonably drinkable for what it is, but this bomber is plenty - the bitterness builds upon itself as you sip through the glass, which eventually becomes tiresome for the taste buds.
Final Grade: 3.77, Terms is a solid IPA, one which might rank among this brewery's better efforts in that field. The hops are vibrant and downright verdant, but I found the bitterness to be rather pointed for a so-called session beer. Still, the flavours are nice and I had no trouble whatsoever polishing off the bomber myself. Needless to say, it's worth trying, but as with any one-off session IPA you'd be better off doing it sooner vs. later.
