650 mL bottle from the brewery; no bottling date, but it came out this week so I'll assume it's fresh. 1 of 2 small batch session IPAs released simultaneously; this one was brewed with Bravo and HBC 472 hops.
Pours a muddy, translucent yellow-apricot colour, generating an inch of foamy white head that falls apart within a minute or two; a thin collar of froth remains, but not much else. Coconut, vanilla, pineapple and stone fruit on the nose, with hints of grainy malts, honey and berries.
Not a bad little IPA at all, with the experimental hop strain providing some unique flavours. Oranges and grainy, bready pale malt sweetness come through initially, with stone fruit and an herbal, woodsy character not far behind. Hints of coconut and vanilla too, with floral, earthy, slightly spicy hops and toffee rounding out the back end. Light-medium in body, with moderately low carbonation that provides a little bit of prickliness to its smooth mouthfeel. It's arguably sessionable, but the bomber was more than enough for me.
Final Grade: 3.6, a B grade. As far as session IPAs go, Conditions is perhaps a little bit better than average - its hop flavours are kind of novel, somewhat reminiscent of Sabro, but with an earthier, woodsier profile. The beer itself seemed a little sweeter, less bitter, and much less juicy than its sister beer (Terms), which I'd prefer over this one, but they're both acceptable (albeit pricey) session IPAs that I wouldn't discourage other BAs from trying while they're still fresh.
