Bomber from the brewery; no packaging date, but it's a few weeks old at most. Served slightly chilled.

This is a visually interesting beer - it seems foggy orange-amber when held to a light, yet has a much more reddish-purple colouration elsewise. Nearly a finger of smooth, foamy white head rises at the surface, then recedes within a minute or two; a bubbly collar of soapy suds remains behind, along with several splashes of attractive lace. Faint hints of blueberry skin on the nose, but it's mostly grainy, wheaty malts coming through.

The flavour profile is similar, with wheaty malts and grainy sweetness doing most of the legwork; hints of blueberry juice develop by mid-sip, with some resiny hops and intense blueberry tannins at the finish, lingering into an astringent, surprisingly persistent aftertaste. It's odd, but I actually kind of like it. Medium-bodied, with moderately low carbonation levels that gently prickle the palate; smooth mouthfeel, almost juicy, with very good drinkability.

Final Grade: 3.64, a B grade. Brad's Mom not only made a smart, financially prudent decision when she bought that Corolla, the beer itself is actually a pretty decent blueberry beer. The aftertaste weirded me out at first, but over the course of the glass, my taste buds grew used to it and I didn't really notice the tannic astringency quite as much. It's overpriced for what you get, but that doesn't matter as far as its rating goes - very quaffable, more of a wheat ale than a fruit beer, and I wouldn't discourage others from trying it.
