473 ml can served cold into a pint glass LCBO purchase.

Appearance - Mildly hazy golden brown brew with a small finger of white head. Average head retention.

Smell - Subdued aroma with orange and maybe melon as the two most prominent aromas. A sweeter than average citrus bundle for sure.

Taste - Mildly bitter, flavor is of orange and melon with a touch of grapefruit. Not the most intense and the flavor falls flats afterwards, but while it is there, it's reasonably robust for a lighter IPA. Not much malt in the background.

Mouthfeel - Medium-thin bodied, with sufficient fizzy carbonation, this drinks pretty nicely.

Overall - A serviceable session IPA with a little more melon than most, otherwise there's not much to differentiate Catstronaut from a whole host of other similar offerings by the breweries of Ontario.

473 mL can from the brewery; packaged Feb 18 2022 and served slightly chilled.

Pours a foggy, pale golden-blonde colour, producing nearly two fingers of lumpy, soapy, sparkling white head that settles off within five minutes, give or take. The glass becomes absolutely caked with a mess of sticky lacing as it recedes down to a wide, foamy collar and patchy cap - looks downright beautiful. The aroma is subdued, but intriguing - there's hints of melon, lime and nectarine, with suggestions of strawberry and pineapple.

Not a lot of malt character here, just a faint undercurrent of wheaty grain, followed by hops galore - grapefruit, lemon, lime and honeydew melon, with hints of pineapple and peach. Slightly herbal and dank towards the finish, but the tropical fruitiness lasts into the aftertaste. Light-medium in body, with assertive carbonation that remains prickly and crisp well into the course of the glass; feels crisp yet fluffy on the palate. Good drinkability.

Final Grade: 3.81, a B+. I actually found Catstronaut surprisingly flavourful for a session IPA, a sub-style that I have no real fondness for and thus only occasionally appreciate to this extent. I'm not sure I could drink it all night, as the hop acidity starts to pile up after a while, but two in a row? No problem. One of those beers that really needs to be sampled fresh for the full experience, even though this two month old can is still drinking just fine.
