Is a Peanut Butter Chocolate Stout a wise release right smack in the middle of the summer? We're not sure, but it's too late to turn back now. Chocolate Bar is a rich, flavourful 6% stout modelled after a popular ridged disc-shaped treat. We can't really say much more than that, and we're sorry but you'll likely never guess which one.
Warning: this bad boy was made with a ton of real peanut butter, best to avoid if you have a nut allergy.

I bought a can at the LCBO in Ontario 473ml at 6%.
Poured into glass with a 2 finger head leaving a lace as you drink it.
Dark color stout
Chocolate malt peanut butter taste almost like a peanut butter cup .
It's one of those beers right off the bat I said I probably won't like it but
It's actually pretty good .
Cheers

473 ml can served cold into a Wellington tumbler glass. Canned January 3, 2023.
Appearance - Hazy, cola brown in color, pours a big two plus finger light tan head. Pretty good retention. A couple little rings of lacing stick all the way around the glass.
Smell - Some peanuts and chocolate, the peanuts stand out more, some general sugary sweetness.
Taste - Some general roastiness, a little icing sugar, elements of chocolate and a small smattering of nuts, not nearly as many as were in the nose.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, lower in carbonation but just enough, finish is not dry.
Overall - Decent flavored stout, but the peanuts and the chocolate actually end up being featured less than I figured it would and the taste is just a bit too sweet. Still good and worth trying, but this probably won't get rave reviews from the crew here at BA.

Look: Pours a rich dark brown, reminds me of the Boston Bruins retro jersey. Starts with a finger of tawny tightly bubbled head. Head pulls back leaving decent lacing rather quickly.
Smell: Chocolate and roasty, but very underwhelming. The smell is lacking gravitas.
Taste: Milk and dark chocolates, the hints of peanut butter are underwhelming. This is meant to taste of a Reece Peanut Buttercup, but it lacks both the flavouring and the textures.
Feel: Reece Peanut Buttercups are super sweet and creamy. This is very lightly bodied and without any real creaminess. It is silky smooth, and but I don't associate silky smooth as the adjective I'd reach for when describing a Reece.
I'm probably judging it a bit more harshly given the failure to deliver on the premise, but this in no way reminds me of a Reece Peanut Buttercup, which is what the brewers claimed to be trying for. I have to give it a B-.

Bomber from the brewery, served barely chilled. No bottling date, but it's about four months old at this point - I bought this in July and decided to save it for Halloween. Strange coincidence, but this also happens to be my 3000th tick on BA, so triple cheers are in order!
Pours a deep, clear mahogany brown with crimson red highlights, stirring up half a finger of soapy, tan-coloured suds. A modest collar and patchy, bubbly cap live on, but with little in the way of lace. Smells quite sweet, as you'd expect - I'm getting roasted peanuts, with hints of cocoa, milk chocolate, roasted grain and icing sugar.
This is a respectable stout that also does a fair job of representing the confection it's meant to mimic. Sweet at the forefront, with caramel and treacle giving way to milk chocolate, chocolate-covered raisin and peanut butter by the midpoint. A little roastier on the back end, but chocolate and peanut butter sweetness carry on through to the finish; the sip concludes with a bittersweet aftertaste of roasted nuts/grains & baker's chocolate that clings to the taste buds. Medium-full in body, with low carbonation that presents little resistance on the tongue, resulting in an exceptionally silky-smooth mouthfeel that suits the peanut butter cup theme.
Final Grade: 3.73, a B grade. Chocolate Bar is not something I'd want to drink a lot of, but it's well-executed enough for a gimmick beer. As a bonus, it's actually a pretty decent stout itself, with the peanut butter simply providing an added layer of richness to the flavour profile - too sweet to be a go-to option, but worth trying at least once. They've already released another batch in cans, so clearly they thought this might make a good fall seasonal - I'm inclined to agree.
