Bomber from the brewery; no bottling date. Served slightly chilled.
Pours a bright, clear golden-blonde colour, capped with half an inch of loose, sudsy white head that disintegrates within sixty seconds or so; a bubbly collar and patchy film are the only remnants of note. The aroma is muted - hints of apricot, citrus and light grassiness.
It's alright, like drinking a cold glass of hop tea. Hints of grainy, cereal sweetness underneath notes of orange, lemon and peach iced tea; these carry through to the finish, accented by suggestions of floral hops and a faint, grassy dirtiness. Dry aftertaste that makes you want to take another sip. Light in body, with moderate carbonation that adds some spritz to this brew's thin mouthfeel - it's watery, but given the very low abv I can't complain too much. Refreshing, and extremely sessionable.
Final Grade: 3.61, a B grade. Don't Call Them Ponds didn't blow me away or anything, but I don't have any serious complaints, either. Session IPAs in general are not a major draw for me, so an ultra-light one such as this is a hard sell - fortunately, I was pleasantly surprised by the hop flavours that they've managed to pack into a mere 3%. Recommended to session IPA lovers, as well as fans of unsweetened iced tea - I'd buy this again for the right price.
