Part of the latest IPA 6 pack from Refined Fool. LCBO purchase made this come out to around $4CDN per can. Canned APril 27, 2023. Served well-chilled into a pint glass.
Appearance - Murky brew with yellowy gold in color and a big foamy three finger white head that has average staying power. It coalesces down into a half finger of still loose white foam. Spotty lacing is left behind.
Smell - Rather sweet, apples with a smattering of citrus possibly a sweet bubblegum or banana note in there too. Not the biggest aroma, but comes with a nice floral backing.
Taste - Very moderate bitterness, some apple skins with some earthy flavors. Oat grain and a touch of orange. Very subdued for an IPA.
Mouthfeel - Medium-full bodied, creamy and smooth due to the oats, easy drinking with medium carbonation.
Overall - The feel is good, but everything else with apple being the start and only a smattering of citrus, this isn't what I'd normally enjoy as an IPA. Worth a try and good enough addition to the 6 pack, but would not be looking to repeat this.

Bomber from the brewery; no packaging date and served barely chilled.
Pours a relatively clear golden-apricot colour, generating just over an inch of smooth, foamy, creamy white head that drops off within five minutes or so. It leaves behind a band of thick lace, in addition to a frothy collar and filmy cap - looks normal to me. It gets much cloudier if you pour the bottoms in, as I did later on. The aroma is subdued and neutral, with suggestions of plain oatmeal; the hops do come through a little bit as the glass warms, imparting hints of orange, citrus peel, sweet apples and white grape skins.
This is a serviceable, unassuming IPA with excellent drinkability for its strength. Flavours of orange, orchard fruit and citrus peel, backed by a robust underlying oat & grain sweetness. Not a lot of development beyond that: maybe a hint of pithy, floral hop bitterness at the finish, with briefly lingering hints of orchard fruit and citrus into the aftertaste. Medium-full in body, with light carbonation that rolls across the palate, gently agitating it with each sip; feel silky smooth and soft. The texture and drinkability of this pale ale are its strongest attributes.
Final Grade: 3.84, a B+. Where Are We Going? is one of those IPAs that doesn't come off as flashy - like, at all - yet still makes for a nice change of pace, simply by being different. It's not a juicy haze bomb NEIPA, it's not a bracingly bitter west coast IPA, nor is it chasing some current fad... it's just an IPA with oats. Sounds simple enough, and I suppose that sensibility is reflected in its conservative aromas and flavours - but sometimes it's nice to drink an IPA that doesn't blow out your taste receptors, you know? Worth a look, especially if it comes back in a more affordable format.
