Hibiscus & Rosehip Blonde Ale
This easy-drinking blonde ale is infused with tangy and tart rosehips and lemony-tart, berry-rich hibiscus. Soft malty-sweet flavours with gentle notes of honey and biscuit are present, along with mild earthy and herbal hop aroma. Floral overtones are enhanced with the addition of rosehips, leaving an intriguing nuttiness from the seeds. It has a well-balanced and clean finish with beautiful pinkish hues and, at 7.5%, you'll have no trouble telling your significant other who the ugly one is.

473 mL can from the brewery; no canning date and served slightly chilled.
Pours a foggy pinkish-red hue, producing nearly an inch of creamy, off white-coloured head that melts away within a couple of minutes. Afterwards, a tight collar of creamy suds survives, encircling a thin, filmy cap with a sparse scattering of spotty lace. Earth/dirt/soil on the nose, with floral notes, sunflower seeds, hibiscus tea and a hint of berries.
It tastes alright - hibiscus tea leads off, with honeyed sweetness, flowers and a hint of berries (not quite raspberry, not quite currant, but something akin to those). Earthy, floral notes and nuttiness on the back end, with hints of herbal tea, hibiscus flowers and berries dissipating into a slightly sweet, weakly warming aftertaste. The 7.5% is well-integrated, but starts to catch up with you during the last half of the session. Medium in body, with assertive carbonation that adds a firm prickliness to this brew's smooth, somewhat creamy & frothy mouthfeel.
Final Grade: 3.73, a solid B grade. I don't drink a lot of herbal tea, but those who do should strongly consider trying The Ugliest Parent. The hibiscus imparts a fruity tea-like flavour, while the rosehips provide flowery & nutty notes - it's a pleasant combination, though not necessarily something I'd care to drink on a daily basis. A neat strong herbed ale, worth taking a look at.
