473 mL can from the brewery; dated Mar 9 2023. "From the mouth of the river to the mouth of your body." I liked this slogan, but it turns out that a "river mouth" is where the river empties into a lake/ocean, and since Lake Huron empties into the river, this is technically incorrect - the worst kind of incorrect.
Pours a very pale straw yellow colour, with half an inch of loose, soapy white head gathered atop. Within a couple of minutes, it has been reduced to a thin, frothy collar and filmy cap on the surface. Subtle aroma of cereal grains, doughy malts and maybe a hint of citrus rind.
It's a pretty decent light beer. Grainy malts, sweet cereals, light doughy sweetness, with lemon rind and faintly earthy/grassy notes on the back end. Off-dry aftertaste. Light in body, with low-ish carbonation that gently prickles the tongue with each sip; feels smooth, but not very crisp. I finished my glass with no real complaint, and drinking another wouldn't be a problem.
Final Grade: 3.38, a B-. Sarnia Light is nothing special, but I'll admit that it tastes way better than their tapwater. In all seriousness, this is not a bad light beer, or a particularly outstanding one - it's just alright, and there's only so much one can say about an OK light lager (hence the need for all of this textual padding). I could drink this again, but I'm definitely not the target demographic for this sort of beer and I don't really see myself buying it.
