This cold fermented ale features a hop profile that gives notes of apple, pear, and melon. Pair these flavours with the massive fresh guava additions and you've got yourself a wildly unique summer IPA. Careful, you're going to have the insatiable urge to thrash when you drink this one—if you start smoking again don't blame it on us. 60 IBU

473 mL can from the brewery; no canning date and served slightly chilled. Listed as a cold IPA with pink guava.

Pours a foggy, translucent pale golden hue, with nearly two fingers of soapy, foamy white head rising from the surface. It falls back over the next three minutes, reduced to a modest ring of lace and a generously frothy collar - looks fine to me. Mild guava on the nose, with additional hints of grassy hops, melon rind and orchard fruit. Not exactly fragrant, but appealing enough.

A strange IPA, to say the least - the malt backbone is gritty and grainy, joined by flavours of green apple and melon rind that give way to hints of pink guava. Finishes with a spicy, grassy hop bitterness that lasts and lasts; bitter & abnormally astringent aftertaste that clings to the taste buds indefinitely. Light-medium in body, with assertive carbonation that contributes to its crisp mouthfeel. I was shocked to see that this was only 5% - I have had DIPAs that were easier to choke back.

Final Grade: 3.39, a B-. Party Time kind of rubbed me the wrong way: its guava flavours are understated, and there's not a lot of depth here, which leaves only that astringent aftertaste as the takeaway. I sort of got used to it over the course of the session, but it mostly came off as unbalanced and a little harsh. Not entirely without redeeming qualities, but there are so many other IPAs that I'd rather be drinking right now, and that includes at least a couple from Refined Fool. Not worth bringing back without some major tweaks.
