This is quickly becoming our new favourite IPA. It’s wonderfully juicy and just perfectly balanced. Grains: pilsner, wheat and flaked oats. Hops: Mosaic, Citra and El dorado. 30 IBU

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From their IPA Fun Box 10 at my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. Canned February 11/25. My 21st beer from the Sarnia, Ontario brewery, and 11th for 2026. With Sundae...

473 mL can from the brewery; no canning date. Served slightly chilled.

Pours a hazy marmalade yellow-orange, boasting nearly two inches of soapy, foamy white head that lasts for the better part of five minutes. By that point, I'm left with a sudsy cap and collar, with no shortage of lovely arc-patterned lacing imprinted onto the glass. Juicy tangerine and grapefruit on the nose, with lesser notes of watermelon, pear and papaya. So far, so good.

Tastes great, too - its juicy flavour profile includes tangerine, lime, melon and pineapple, alongside hints of mango, bubble gum and wheaty, bready pale malts. Finishes with a brief flash of low-key earthy, floral hops, followed by a tropical fruity/bubblegum aftertaste that fades within a moment or so. Medium in body, with low carbonation that gently brushes against the tongue, resulting in an exceedingly soft and smooth mouthfeel. No sign of the near-7%, which (together with its low bitterness) makes for a highly crushable IPA.

Final Grade: 4.04, an A-. Lake Sauce is a quality juicy pale ale, and definitely an above average effort for this brewery. The Fools have consistently been pumping out new IPAs for years now, sometimes at a rate of several per month - with that kind of volume, there are bound to be plenty of hits and misses. This appeals to me more than most of their IPAs, and it's a brew I'd encourage them to bring back in their next IPA mixed pack, hopefully available at an LCBO near you. Drink it fresh, though!
