473 mL can from the brewery; no canning date and served barely chilled.
Pours a foggy golden-blonde colour, with at least two inches of billowing, puffy, sparkling white head erupting from the surface. A little over five minutes later, it has dropped down to a quarter-inch cap of lumpy foam, with an attractive, patchy pattern of lace pasted onto the glass - looks great, but the nose is another story. I'm getting a briney, green olive-like note, in addition to hints of passion fruit, goose berry and pineapple - I actually don't dislike the aroma, but it does come off as odd.
It tastes alright - a bit wheaty, with passion fruit, pineapple and lemony citrus at the forefront; maybe a little bit of apricot and some floral, piney hops towards the tail end. The green olive note crops up again at the finish, dissipating into an aftertaste of stone fruit and green, uncured weed that lingers momentarily. Light-medium in body, with middling carbonation that provides some bite to this brew's otherwise smooth mouthfeel.
Final Grade: 3.44, a B-. I have a couple of problems with Kids on Tablets. The aforementioned olive note did become less noticeable over the course of the session, both on the nose and within the flavour profile - I assume my taste buds acclimated to its presence, making the second half of the glass more appealing. That said, even if I were to dismiss that aspect entirely, it's basically a pretty forgettable pale ale - not bad, but not all that good, either. I might give this another shot if they brew another batch.
