Hazy IPA with pilsner malt, wheat and oats and a touch of lactose. Generously dry-hopped with Strata, Citra, Galaxy, Mosaic and El Dorado. Aromas of strawberry, grapefruit, tangerine, passionfruit, peach, lime, pineapple, pear and tangy citrus.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From their Summer Beer League 6-pack at my favourite but now closed The Beer Store on Goyeau St. in nearby downtown Windsor. Canned May 10/24. My 15th beer from the Sarnia, Ontario brewery, and 5th for 2026. Admirably considered by Gracie the cat...

473 mL can from the LCBO, included in Refined Fool's Beer League summer mix pack. Dated Apr 25 2024 and served barely chilled.
Pours hazy golden-yellow, generating one finger of tight, foamy white head that lasts for three minutes or so. A modest ring of uneven lace sticks to the glass, with a frothy collar and filmy cap surviving indefinitely - looks normal enough so far. Light, fruity aroma that includes hints of grapefruit, lemon, green mango and melon.
Nothing out of the ordinary here, but it's a decent-tasting hazy IPA. The flavours follow the nose, with grapefruit, green mango, orange and melon coming through, along with hints of bready, wheaty malts and indeterminate stone fruit. Finishes with tropical fruit and citrus pithiness, fading into an off-dry aftertaste. Medium-full body with gentle carbonation that brushes softly against the palate, contributing to this brew's smooth, plush mouthfeel. I found this very easy to toss back, but at 6.8% it's not something I'd want to consume in multiples.
Final Grade: 3.74, a B grade. While I love the name and label, Mediocre Bowler And Friend is little more than a boilerplate hazy IPA. I did enjoy the mouthfeel, and its citrus/tropical fruit-focused flavour profile is fine, if a bit forgettable. There are just so many alternative options in this category, and (beyond the silly name) this one doesn't really differentiate itself from the competition. Good sampler pack filler, and I'd at least consider purchasing it again as a single.
