At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From the Summer Beer League boxed set from my favourite The Beer Store on Goyeau St. in nearby downtown Windsor. My fifth beer from the Sarnia, Ontario brewery, and first for 2025.

473 mL can from the LCBO, included in Refined Fool's Beer League summer mix pack. Dated Apr 28 2024 and served slightly chilled.

Pours hazy and translucent, its pale blonde-coloured body crowned with roughly one finger of loose, soapy white head that disintegrates within a minute or two. A frothy collar and filmy cap survive, with a modest ring of lace adhering to the glass - looks normal enough. Clean, grainy pale malts and crackers on the nose, with hints of lemon peel, grassy hops and stone fruit.

It's a decent blonde - I'm getting grainy malts and wheat, with doughy, bready sweetness and some low-key fruity characteristics developing by mid-sip: think apples & apricots, with a twinge of lemon peel. Finishes with grassy, mildly herbal hop bitterness that dissipates into a grainy aftertaste, trending dry. Light-medium in body, with potent carbonation that adds a sharp prickliness to this brew's smooth mouthfeel. Solid drinkability, and pretty flavourful for a blonde ale.

Final Grade: 3.67, an acceptable B grade. We Must Wear Spandex is an above average blonde ale, offering a good mix of clean, grainy, wheaty malt flavours and grassy hop bitterness. I wouldn't call this an especially memorable brew, but it's crafted well and I certainly wouldn't have minded another glass. Pretty good for what it is - possibly worth adding to their rotating line-up as a summer seasonal.
