Raise your hand if you've been in this situation: you're walking around someones lair and you see a button that just needs to be pressed. Next thing you know you're knee deep in a pit of Cuban Crocodiles.

I Wonder What This Button Does, a 5.6% Hazy IPA brewed as part of our Tiny Batch Series, pays homage to this all-too-familiar event. Pleasant notes of tropical fruit, stone fruit, vanilla and coconut from the Sabro and Lotus hops should help tame any button-related curiosity you are currently feeling. 25 IBU

473 mL can from the brewery; no canning date. Served barely chilled.

Pours a hazy golden apricot colour, kicking up roughly one finger of tight, creamy white head that disappears within a couple of minutes. It leaves behind a narrow band of lace above a sudsy collar, with little else remaining. The aroma is slightly minty, with tangerine/orange coming through quite clearly; I'm also getting hints of green mango, passion fruit and vanilla.

It tastes ok - I'm getting orange, pineapple and passion fruit, with hints of mango and coconut giving way to pithy, spicy hops on the tail end. Hints of vanilla at the finish, with tropical fruits and citrus dissipating into a peppery aftertaste. Light-medium in body, with moderate carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. Decent drinkability.

Final Grade: 3.68, a B grade. I Wonder What This Button Does is unique enough to be worth trying at least once, but at the same time, it's not exactly the Fools' best work. Personally, Sabro is not a hop variety I care for all that much, and the Lotus doesn't add enough to shift my attention away from the Sabro - if anything, its spicy/vanilla-like qualities double down and make the experience even weirder. I'm going to chalk this up to different strokes for different folks - it's not a pale ale I'd be interested in revisiting, but if you want to try a brew that's different from your typical hazy IPA, this might be relevant to your interests.
