473 mL can from the brewery; no packaging date. Served slightly chilled.
Pours a foggy golden-blonde colour, topped with an inch of soapy, foamy white head that recedes over the next three or four minutes. A lovely half-inch curtain of lace is draped across the glass, with a frothy collar and cap lingering on - looks great so far. The aroma is citrusy, emphasizing lemon-lime and grapefruit zest, but there's also notes of pineapple, orange peel and berries, with hints of pine.
It's pretty darn tasty, offering up an appealing mix of tropical fruit and citrusy hop flavours, followed by a decently potent bitter kick at the finish. I'm getting grapefruit, passion fruit and pineapple at the forefront, followed by hints of pineapple and orange. Finishes with earthy, piney hop bitterness that dissipates into a pithy aftertaste that lasts. Medium-light in body, with average carbonation that lends some spritz to this brew's otherwise smooth mouthfeel. Fantastic drinkability; I almost ran out of beer before I finished this review.
Final Grade: 3.98, a B+. I honestly think Tony Only Litters On Earth Day is the best Refined Fool IPA I've had this year - which is a bold statement, because they seem to pump out a new one every other week. My fondness for both of these hop strains, as well as for West Coast-style IPAs in general, is clearly affecting my opinion here - and the fact that this is less than a week old also doesn't hurt. These "Tiny Batch Series" IPAs usually just come and go, but this is one that I'd buy regularly, should it become a staple of this brewery's lineup.
