Years in the making, this perfect 6% NEIPA is the result of dozens of slightly tweaked batches. We lost so much sleep obsessing over this one that the eyes you see on Roy perfectly resemble what ours looked like. This fella is absolutely loaded with tropical fruit notes: passion fruit, citrus, grapefruit, strawberry, and peach. Pillowy-soft, ultra juicy, and oh so hazy, you'll be thinking about Roy long after your last sip. IBU: 30

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From their IPA Fun Box 9 at my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. Canned November 29/24. My 31st beer from the Sarnia, Ontario brewery, and 21st for 2026. With Sundae the cat...

473ml can served cold into a pint glass. Canned AUgust 20, 2024 and purchased for about $3.75 CDN from the LCBO.
Appearance - Hazy golden straw color beer with some honey brown highlights. Multiple fingers of dense and fluffy white head.
Smell - Grapefruit and lemon up front with some hints of pineapple at the edges. Intensely fragrant.
Taste - Fairly sweet and juicy with some pineapple, lemon and a touch of grape skins. Moderate bitterness mid sip. Thin malt backbone. Taste sticks to the mouth really well.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied and lower than average in carbonation. Fairly easy to drink.
Overall - An enjoyable NEIPA highlighted by a big nose. Hazy Roy a Hazy Boy is a solid brew and one of the better ones from Refined Fool, however with a competitive marketplace it doesn't really stand out.

473 mL can from the brewery; dated Aug 20 2024 and served barely chilled.
Pours hazy and turbid, its pale apricot yellow-hued body crowned with an inch of loose, foamy white head that lasts for a couple of minutes. A thin band of lace clings to the glass, above a soapy collar and filmy cap that last indefinitely - sure looks like a hazy boy. Fragrant, enticing aroma that conjures up mental images of grapefruit, lemon and lime zest, as well as yellow plum, green mango and floral hops.
It's pretty tasty, with sweet fruit flavours such as mango and pineapple leading the way; these are joined by notes of grapefruit, lemon and coconut by mid-sip. Hints of bready, wheaty malts and floral, cedary hops develop on the back end, receding into a moderately fruity-sweet aftertaste that vaguely reminds me of a lemon meringue pie topped with coconut. On the fuller side of medium-bodied, with middling carbonation that adds a gentle prickle to this brew's smooth, juicy mouthfeel; good drinkability at 6%.
Final Grade: 3.85, a B+. Hazy Roy is most certainly a hazy boy, and he's a pretty well-constructed one, too. I will admit that I am not a huge fan of the (hop-derived) coconut flavours, but there's enough good stuff going on that I don't find them too distracting. Overall, it's a solid New England-style IPA that I'd encourage other beer geeks to try, and I'm sure I'll be drinking more of this in the relatively near future. Good work, fools!
