It's super crisp and crushable with some mild citrus and a touch of juiciness.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From their IPA Fun Box 10 at my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. Canned February 12/25. My 21st beer from the Sarnia, Ontario brewery, and 11th for 2026. With Sundae the cat's permission, of course...

473 mL can from the brewery; dated Jul 3 2025 and served barely chilled.

Pours a foggy pale golden colour, featuring more than an inch of bumpy, foamy white head that fades steadily over the course of the next five minutes. Two rings of sticky, spidery lace are left in its wake, with a generous collar and patchy cap remaining on the surface - highly appealing, at least visually speaking. The aroma consists of grainy pale malts, crackers, lemon peel and faint stone fruitiness, with suggestions of grassy, floral hops.

It's alright; grainy malts, white bread, grapefruit pith, lemon rind and faint stone fruit flavours are all detectable. Grassy, floral hops and lightly earthy, herbal bitterness round out the tail end, with citrus peel and herbal hops lingering into the aftertaste. Light in body, with moderately assertive carbonation that adds some needed bite to this brew's smooth mouthfeel. Super easy to knock back, with real session potential.

Final Grade: 3.76, a B+. Refined Fool's Pants lands somewhere halfway in between an Italian pilsner and a session IPA. There are some things about this IPL that I genuinely like: it looks great in the glass, and the smooth, soft mouthfeel makes for an exceptionally crushable brew that I might conceivably reach for long before I'd consider a session IPA. The malt profile is also clean-tasting and easy to appreciate - but on the other hand, the hop flavours are uninspired at best. It's a mixed bag, but also a good alternative to their Pouch Envy, e.g. if you're in the mood for something slightly hoppy, but would still prefer a lager over a pale ale.
