There is no milk in this beer.

But if you understand the satisfaction that comes with perfectly snipping the top corner of a bag of milk, you are Canadian to the core. Where did the little plastic piece go that you just chopped clean off? If you did it correctly it's somewhere in the drawer with the scissors. This is our identity.

That's why this Canadian Red Ale was brewed for you. Smooth, crisp, and slightly malty with juuust the right amount of bitterness. It pours deep red, much like the colour of an aggressively tossed elbow.

Save your sorry's, it's time to Make Milk Bags Great Again.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. Canned April 24/25. My 28th beer from the Sarnia, Ontario brewery, and 18th for 2026. Awesomely recommended by Gracie the cat...

Poured a 473ml can into a pint glass. A big two finger bubbly white head on a slightly hazy reddish brown. good head retention. A thin layer sticks around to the end. Sheets of foamy lacing.

Caramel malts and a slight hop aroma. The taste is malts up front. Lots of fruity malts. A mildly bitter hop finish.

A very smooth and creamy texture. A medium/light body and light carbonation. Overall a fine Irish Red Ale. Much better than i expected. Well worth a try.

Classic red brown color. Very thin head of foam. The taste is not bad at all. A little malty with grain and burnt caramel. It's better than I was expecting it to be. Winner overall.

473 mL can from the brewery, dated Apr 24 2025 and served slightly chilled.

Pours a clear reddish-amber colour, briefly supporting one finger of lumpy, foamy, off white-tinted head that fizzles within a couple of minutes. It leaves behind a narrow band of lace, as well as a tight collar surrounding a sudsy cap - looks good to me. Light hints of grapefruit and candied orange peel on the nose, as well as a whiff of berries, or maybe candy apple? Caramelized sugars, bready malts and earthy hops are also discernible, particularly as the glass warms.

Not only is this a tasty amber ale, it includes a handful of flavours that I don't necessarily expect from this style. Fruity at the forefront, with suggestions of ripe plum, mandarin orange and strawberry overlapping with a bready, lightly toasted, caramelized malt backbone. I might be imagining a hint of maple near the finish, with earthy hops, caramel and apple flavours dissipating into a malty aftertaste that lingers momentarily. Medium-light in body, with restrained carbonation and a smooth, satisfying mouthfeel. Great drinkability.

Final Grade: 3.97, an impressive B+. Make Milk Bags Great Again raises an important question: were milk bags ever *not* the optimal way to package milk? Maybe this makes me a nationalist, but I think it's pretty obvious that bags are the epitome of milk-containing technology. Cartons? Pfft. Jugs? Take off, you hoser. Bottles?! Get ootta here, grandpa.

The North American hops make it hard to justify calling this an Irish red: and that's not meant to suggest that it's a red IPA, or anything even close to that. It does, however, possess enough hop character to serve as a proper counterweight to the sturdy malt bill that you'd expect out of an amber. Easily one of the better ambers that Refined Fool has produced during its 11 year tenure: red ales are not a style I tend to seek out, but I'll be buying more of this while it's still available. Perform your civic duty and drink a few of these on July 1st.
