A detour from my usual go-to breweries and selections. Coffee Cake White Stout? The hell?!
The first thing to notice is that this is decidedly not white. Pours copper, like a Belgian. Also, the head is huge! In fact, even with a gentle pour, it's as much a head as a beer.
The nose is a mix of a pilsner, a sour, and malt. Scary.
The body is a bitter pilsner with gentle notes of coffee. Barely detectable.
The other notes mentioned (vanilla, graham cracker, caramel, biscuit) are complete rubbish. None of that is in here.
This is a subpar beer that just keeps getting worse as you drink it.
Personally, it also made me nauseous.

473ml can served cold into a pint glass. LCBO purchase. Canned December 23, 2025. Listed as Coffee cake white stout.

Appearance - Lightly hazy, rich auburn beer. Two fingers of frothy white head with great staying power. Spiderweb lacing all around the edges of the glass.

Smell - Plenty of coffee with a nice aromatic bready cake quality. Tiramisu in a glass on the nose.

Taste - Plenty of coffee, with some sweetness mixed in. Cake like quality throughout. Fairly bitter and remains so with just the right amount of coffee flavor filtering in.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, very smooth and somewhat creamy. Carbonation is just right.

Overall - This rendition of Drip Wizard (coffee cake white stout) is probably one of the two or three best Refined Fool beers I've ever enjoyed. Balanced, very tiramisu-esque with overwhelming on any one aspect. Not something I'd be enjoying on the regular but a nice special treat beer.

473 mL can from the brewery; no canning date. Served barely chilled.

Pours a clear golden colour, graced with two fingers of soapy, foamy white head that falls back over the next four or five minutes. A half-inch curtain of lace is draped onto the glass in the process, with a frothy collar and cap floating upon the surface. Light notes of coffee on the nose, combined with digestive biscuit, vanilla and sponge toffee; I'm also getting faint hints of white chocolate.

It's pretty tasty, and more balanced than I'd expect from a self-styled "sticky toffee pudding stout". Toffee and caramel are prominent, with flavours of cocoa, blonde roast coffee, vanilla and sponge cake; the latter two make for a vaguely Twinkie-like combo. Caramel, vanilla and coffee bitterness round out the back end, culminating with an astringent aftertaste that bugged me at first, before my tastebuds eventually adapted. Medium-full in body, with moderately low carbonation and a smooth, fairly fulfilling texture. The alcohol is barely perceptible, but its presence (along with that aftertaste) does limit its drinkability to an extent.

Final Grade: 3.66, a B grade. Drip Wizard White is alright: it has its problems, but on the whole there are more things about this that I like than dislike. The caramel/toffee and vanilla flavours work well together, but the overuse of (what I assume to be) coffee flavouring syrup affects the aftertaste, and doesn't really fit the theme of "sticky toffee pudding" anyhow. Interesting to try, but if this somehow makes it into the Fools' rotation as a seasonal, I don't see myself returning all that often.
