This 4% Boysenberry Gose, brewed as part of our Tiny Batch Series, is slightly sour but wonderfully balanced with a touch of sea salt and a pile of fresh boysenberries.

The boysenberries give it a mesmerizing deep pink/purple colour alongside perfect summer flavours that beg to be consumed on decks, beaches, and near poorly installed air conditioning units. 20 IBU

473 mL can from the brewery; no canning date. Served slightly chilled.

Pours a clear, purplish-fuchsia colour, producing nearly two fingers of foamy, pale pink-tinged head that lasts for the better part of five minutes. A delicate, doily-patterned coat of lace is left in its wake, with a frothy collar remaining in place - looks fantastic so far. Understated aroma of doughy, wheaty malts, gym bag funk, blackberry and raspberry.

It's alright. Mildly fruity at first, like an underripe red plum; hints of raspberry and blackberry come through by mid-sip, alongside lemon, wheaty/doughy malts and salt water. Quite salty; a little too salty TBH, like a sports drink that lacks enough fruit flavours and/or sugars to cover up the saltiness. Mildly tannic, briney aftertaste that lasts. Light-medium in body, with low carbonation and a very smooth, soft mouthfeel that improves its drinkability. Easy enough to knock back, but I'd pass on a refill.

Final Grade: 3.51, edging out a B grade. Window Shaker is a salty fruit sour that skimps out on both fruit & sour. The big problem is that the berries are far too subdued, which becomes a real problem, given that the only other flavours of note are wheat, salt water and a low-key lactic sourness. A splash of raspberry or blackberry juice might've helped out considerably. My list of suggested improvements goes as follows: this needs less salt, more berry and more acidity.
