473 mL can from the brewery; dated May 8 2025 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a lightly fogged straw yellow colour, briefly sporting half an inch of loose, bubbly white head that disintegrates within thirty seconds. A thin collar and a few wisps on the surface are all that remain; minimal lace deposition. Grainy aroma with hints of lime zest and lemon juice from the squeeze bottle.
Not much to say about this one. Sweet & tart Sicilian lemon flavours come through early on, with hints of lime zest and grainy malt sweetness coming through by mid-sip. Lemon peel and salt water on the back end, dissipating into a salty, limey aftertaste that fades within a couple of seconds. Light in body, with assertive carbonation that prickles and prods the palate throughout each sip; a smooth-drinking, eminently quaffable lemon lager.
Final Grade: 3.7, a serviceable B grade. Stripped down to its basic elements, Turbo is just a lemon-flavoured ultra-light lager with electrolytes. They at least did a decent job here - it's certainly an improvement over, say, Bud Light Lime, but it's difficult from me to drum up all that much enthusiasm for this brew. In hot summer weather, I would take this over Refined Fool's other mainline lagers, e.g. Ontario Craft Lager and Sarnia Light. Worth a look if you just want something light and citrusy to quench your thirst during the dog days of late summer.
