Satan's Pillowcase might just be the Pumpkin beer you've been waiting for. This beautiful copper/gold hued ale features just the right combination of pumpkin and spices; not over-bearing, not under-bearing - just straight up bearing. But we know what you're thinking, 'what will everyone think if l'm drinking a Satan themed beer at the family reunion?. It's a fair question, and our best guess is that you'll be promptly ejected from the premises (kind of like when Uncle Phil used to toss Jazz onto the front yard). But it will be a pretty delicious exit, and we all know your Aunt that always has a Ouija board in her trunk will back you up.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. Canned July 31/25. My 29th beer from the Sarnia, Ontario brewery, and 19th for 2026. Remarkably pleasing to Gracie the cat...

Pours an inch of foam. Dark golden color that smells lightly of spices. Taste is not bad but honestly I rank this one lower than these other pumpkin spiced beers I've had lately. Mild cinnamon and clove flavors with a pumpkin and hoppy after taste. Not bad but beaten fair and square by some competition.

473 mL can from the brewery; dated Aug 28 2025 and served slightly chilled. A pilot version of this pumpkin ale was released in late spring; this is presumably the final result of tweaking that recipe.
Pours a foggy golden-orange colour, featuring over an inch of thick, foamy white head that falls apart within three minutes or so. A frothy cap and collar survive atop, with a messy smattering of lace scattered in its wake - looks good so far. Pumpkin pie on the nose - graham crackers, pumpkin pie filling and brown sugar, plus an array of pumpkin pie spices, including nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon, clove and ginger.
It's a tasty spiced ale - flavours of toasted malts, brown sugar and graham cracker are apparent, as are pumpkin pie filling and clove. Nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger join the fray by mid-sip, concluding with brown sugar and pie crust dissipating into a spicy, drying aftertaste. Medium in body, with moderately assertive carbonation that gently prickles the surface of the palate, remaining fairly potent even late into the session. Smooth mouthfeel, with good drinkability for the style.
Final Grade: 3.87, a B+. Assuming that Satan's Pillowcase is, indeed, based on their test batch from early 2025, I believe that whatever tweaks they made wound up improving this pumpkin ale, at least a little bit. Perhaps they amped up the malt bill, or added something else to the mix - I feel like this version plays up the pie crust and brown sugar sweetness notes more effectively, making for a more fulfilling and well-rounded pumpkin ale. The spices did become tiresome eventually, but if I'm being honest, I feel that way about almost all spiced pumpkin ales - I mean, there's a reason that I only drink a few of these a year.
