473 mL can from the brewery; dated Sep 4 2025 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a cloudy pale golden colour, topped with more than two fingers of puffy, billowing, foamy white head that lasts for more than five minutes. A soapy cap and sudsy collar live on, with ample lace production over the course of the session; looks good so far. Fragrant, fruity aroma with notes of pomelo, pear, guava and peach, as well as hints of lychee and melon.
It's tasty, and quite flavourful for a light IPA - I'm getting grapefruit, pomelo, peach and melon, backed by notes of orchard fruit and wheaty, bready malts. More citrus and tropical fruitiness on the back end - lime, grapefruit, stone fruit, guava and melon; finishes a bit pithy and acidic, preceding an off-dry aftertaste. Light in body, with assertive carbonation that lends a crisp prickliness to this brew's mouthfeel, which is smooth, and also fulfilling for only 4.5%. Great drinkability.
Final Grade: 3.88, a B+. Even if you're feeling self-conscious, Refined Fool's Leotard Party is worth attending. For me, the highlight was undoubtedly its aroma, with its enticing citrus & tropical fruit notes - unfortunately, these translate to the flavour profile with only partial fidelity. Even still, this is quite possibly the best session IPA the Fools have cooked up yet - top three, for sure - and it's something I would likely repurchase on occasion, in spite of my lack of enthusiasm for lighter IPAs in general.
