Obviously, I disagree with the other rating on this brew. Moritz' Pale Lager falls in the middle of the style; meeting my key characteristics of being refreshing and balancing hops with light malts. A Helles for the rest of Europe.
Moritz opens Looking just below my average; more foam, lace and pale would be nice. Smells also probably lack character; but really because the hops and malts are in balance in the Taste. It is refreshing and clears the palate for another bite. If I have this again, it would be a good beer with lunch.
So, who are these Moritz brewers ? Turns out they are one of Barcelona's first brewers. Moritz has a whole line of Fresh Beers that don't travel to the U.S. Moritz has tasting classes in which pairing to Barcelona's great cuisine is explored in depth. They are bringing together kitchen and brewery as they should be. A tu Salud !
