A huge surprise. From the description - a 1300s style German beer, highly dry-hopped, aged in gin and pinot noir barrels - it's tough to know what to expect! Struck me as a wild lager, almost a merger between a lager, a lambic, and a dry-hopped sour. Beautiful clarity and head - the most "lagery" aspect perhaps. Smell is bright with a lot of botanicals, spicy back end. Flavor has a touch of the solventy elements that you get in young lambic but it's not unpleasant; adds a canned fruit, canned pear sweetness that balances the strong earthy hops. Finishes with a long blast of cedary hops and wheat.
Another bizarre winner from OEC.

I had this at Beervana on Friday night and it was AMAZING!! I have to find a way to make the 2.5 hr trip to the brewery to get more of this.

750 ml bottle. Slightly hazy, pale golden yellow body with a fizzy white head. Small retention ring, no lacing. Aromas of tart wheat, gin, oak, vanilla. Flavors are tart and tangy wheat up front, lots of fruity gin flavors, wine and plenty of oak on the back-end. A true stunner.
