Not sure why this is down as a strong ale? Anyway, been sitting on it for a while and finally popped it open tonight. Not the best I’ve had from OEC but solid.

Bottled on 10/1/18 (Blend 1)
Pours a brilliantly blended maroon-ruddy brown hue and capped with a quickly dissipating ¼ finger of bubbly, off-white/grey head; a thin, spotty collar and haphazard spotting of lacing are all that remain once the head fades.
Aroma offers a soft, even-keeled funk upfront, working into bright tones of semi-sweet raspberry along with light red grape in the middle; a sliver of oak and a denser wheat note develop over time as tannic edges add a mild, underlying leathery tone to the back end.
Taste shows jammy raspberry meshed into a persistent vinous funk, with lighter tones of red berry, acidic strawberry, and even some vague toffee fading into the back end.
Mouthfeel presents a silky medium body with next to no perceptible carbonation, though a subtle tartness and background acidity builds a fulfilling texture; a now-fleeting acidity spritzes and prickles over the back end and into the finish, leaving a bright 'pop' of tarfinish on the swallow.
Beyond conventional categorization efforts and with nearly 2 years in the bottle, this one succeeds best in its presentation as a fruit-forward and funk-laden strong wild ale. As such, its predominant raspberry and tannic notes maintain an inherently refreshing quality, belying its hefty 9.5% ABV and rendering an exceptionally drinkable, if entirely eccentric, hybrid of a beer.
