Passionate Sour perfectly combines the tart and tangy flavours of passionfruit with the sweet flavours of toasted coconut. The addition of lactose provides a creamy finish to this very easy drinking sour.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From the Huron Church Rd. LCBO in nearby Windsor. Canned March 29/25. My 6th beer from the Collingwood, Ontario brewery, and 5th for 2025. Enthusiastically endorsed by Sundae the cat...

Poured a 473ml can into a pint glass. A two finger white head on a hazy pale amber yellow, that soon diminished to a ring.
Fruit and yeasty wheat i the nose.
Fruit forward. Coconut. A long sour finish. Fruit and coconut stays to the end.
Light body and moderate carbonation.
Overall a pretty nice Kettle Sour.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Mar 18 2021 and served slightly chilled.
Pours very cloudy but slightly translucent; its pale golden-hued body is topped off with nearly a finger of foamy white head that vanishes within a minute or so. A paper thin collar is all that remains - not much to look at, but a lot of kettle sours aren't. Coconut suntan lotion on the nose, with the passion fruit also coming through clearly; I'm also getting hints of peach, pineapple and lactose/milk sugar sweetness. Despite not being real big on coconut myself, it's still a fairly appealing aroma.
A very nice kettle sour, with an interesting blend of sugary and acidic flavours - the wheaty malts are a mere background presence amidst notes of passion fruit, coconut, lemony sourness and lactose sweetness. Mildly tart finish, with lingering hints of passion fruit, coconut and lactic acidity. Light-medium in body, with moderately assertive carbonation that lends some bite to this brew's smooth, slightly juicy texture. I tossed my glass back in no time at all.
Final Grade: 3.89, a worthy B+. I enjoyed Passionate Sour a hell of a lot more than I expected to - not that I expected a bad beer from Side Launch, as they're one of Ontario's more reliably good breweries, at least in my experience. Rather, it was my own biases I was concerned about: I am so-so on fruit sours, and (as mentioned previously) not a fan of coconut - but somehow, this one just pulled it all together in a way that my taste buds found highly agreeable. Worth a try if you're looking for something tart, tropical, and a little sweet.
