Pours a thick foam head. Gold color. Hints of pineapple and floral aromas. Nice and bitter as any West Coast IPA should be. Lacing around the glass. Hoppy and floral on taste. Pine is noticeable. Some citrous peel on the after taste. Fresh tasting.
Good West Coast IPA. Give this one a try if you like IPA's a little on bitter side.

473 mL can from the LCBO, included in Side Launch's IPA Mix Pack. Dated Apr 3 2023 and served slightly chilled.
Pours a golden-amber hue, its body brimming with flecks of silty sediment that doesn't settle out much, if at all. Nearly an inch of frothy, soapy white head lasts for the better part of five minutes, gradually melting down to a sudsy collar and filmy cap; plenty of sticky lace production, too. I'm smelling grapefruit, pine resin and floral, earthy, slightly spicy hops, with hints of bready, lightly caramelized malts, cantaloupe, passion fruit and alcohol.
It's a solid blast from the past, with the Chinook hops in particular leading the way. It tastes of bready pale malts and caramelized malts, with flavours of grapefruit and orange also coming through. Increasingly bitter on the back end with floral, spicy hops and an earthy, piney, resiny bitterness that lasts through the finish and into a slightly warming aftertaste with lingering hints of grapefruit peel. Medium-full in body, with low carbonation that weakly agitates the surface of the tongue; feels smooth and a little slick, with decent drinkability for its strength.
Final Grade: 3.9, a B+. Side Launch's West Coast IPA delivers what it advertises, but is that enough to make this worthwhile as a year-round brew? The problem here is not so much the beer itself - it's definitely a competently-brewed West Coast-style IPA - rather, the issue may be one of demand. Given the predominance of hazy IPAs these days, it would seem that the young folk and fad chasers just aren't all that interested in IPAs like this, not anymore. I'd still buy it again, at least if it were available as a single, but I can't see there being a huge financial incentive for the brewery to do so.
