12 ounce bottle into a snifter. Bottled August 2019, had 9/1/20. Hope this is the correct listing for Bourbon barrel aged version.
Pours a deep ruby brown, mostly opaque, with a half inch head and some foamy lacing. Aromas of hazelnut, bourbon, oak, cocoa, vanilla, chocolate, some caramel, some char. Flavors of bourbon, hazelnut, chocolate, vanilla, malt, oak, some caramel and cocoa. Smooth, a solid medium to full body, well carbonated.
Delicious. Solid barrels, great aromas and flavors- although the hazelnuts fade some after first pour, especially in the aroma. While not as hazelnut forward as a few others (all stouts), this is one of the best brown ales I’ve had. Really well done.

Aged in the bottle for a year. Dark brown appearance with slight off white head. Aroma is a nice slightly sweet malt. Taste is also a slightly sweet smooth malt with a light bourbon slight alcohol taste at the end.

Had on tap. The bourbon lends itself well to the hazelnut forward brown ale base, with great raisin, vanilla, toffee, brown sugar and molasses. Not a lot of nuance here, but it tastes and smells fantastic, must be a hazelnut lover like me to really enjoy though, and booze is pretty hot. Body is decently thick for style, with barrel helping in that regard.

BB Chickow pours clear brown but fills to opaque near black with a bubbly, creamy tan collar and that's it.
I can smell smooth, creamy, nutty and floral hazelnut on the nose, and it's decadent and enticing, and almost fully dominates, but for some chocolate and whipped cream, as well as a hint of cotton candy vodka. lol yep.
Taste shifts gears, bringing forward flavors of maple, raisin and chocolate chip with rum and an almost Scotch sort of booze, while prune and charred oak develop in the swallow. Oddly enough, despite the intensity of its presence on the nose, hazelnut is kind of pushed to the side, or is transformed into one of the previously described flavors on the palate.
The body is light and kind of watery with a bubbly minimal carbonation, boozy heat and semi-dry, slightly sticky finish.
