Had on tap at the brewery. Pours opaque, dark brown in color with one quarter inch head. Taste is big chocolate, light salt and faint caramel. Medium body, moderate carbonation, sweet not cloying. The salted caramel is there but I feel this would really benefit from being less subtle. Until the beer warms, this beer tastes like a straight stout--albeit a good one. I still ordered several pints of this as it is tasty but bring out the caramel.

Simple label of tan and tanner swirls with brown lettering, from a tiny brewery in NY's Adirondacks.
Deeply dark, nearly black beer that is clear, showing ruby hues when back lit by the sunlight. Low, mocha latte head that left some lace specks behind and retains a thin film on top.
Smokey sweet nose of molasses, scorched grain and black coffee. No hop scents and very soft overall.
The flavor is full of dark grain character and a chalky dry stout thinness and mouth feel. There are notes of caramel and a salty bite on the tongue but no dominant slalted caramel flavor.
Hops are an afterthought it seems, tempered, grassy bitterness comes out on the finish along side the dryness of the black malt.
A decent dark ale but not a lot of porterish chocolate or caramel flavor, light bodied and more stout-like with dry, smokey, roasted character and low ABV.
