"...true to style with vibrant burst of tropical freshness. Dry hopped exclusively with New Zealand hops, this brew offers captivating aroma of juicy pineapple, ripe mango, and a hint of zesty citrus. Its hazy straw yellow appearance compliments the soft mouthfeel, while the balanced bitterness keeps the finish clean and refreshing."

This one pours pale straw (SRM 2-3) with a light, foggy haze. Fine carbonation can be seen throughout. A one inch, creamy white head settles quickly to a thick, dense blanket. A ton of fine lacing is left on a Strangebird IIPA glass.
Fresh melon, pine, and grapefruit quickly give way to cattiness. Mango shows up with warmth.
The flavor has a strong bitterness in competition with sweetness. Pine resin is harsh and quickly turns astringent. The melon, mango, and other fruits are completely absent. The finish is long and bitter.
Alcohol and carbonation are modest, as expected. The plush texture of soft fur works well with the full body.
Calling this a New England IPA is, in my opinion, a flat out misnomer. It is a decent, cloudy West Coast IPA, reminiscent of catacombs or a dark, dreary, cold and wet afternoon.
