Flanders Inspired Sour Red Ale - Our take on the sour red ales of Flanders. Brewed with Munich and Caramunich malts for a toasty, slightly sweet malt character. The beer is aged for a full year in a Foeder with our custom blend of Brettanomyces, and bacteria. The result is a complex beer with a moderate sourness and notes of pie cherries, stone fruits, toasted bread and toffee.

16.9oz undated bottle poured into a goblet shows a murky brownish body, ( clear orangish when backlit) and briefly floats a 1/4" cap of white bubbles, disappating to small islands and an edge-hugging ring, leaving the glass clean behind.
Aromas of tart cherry and toffee.
Flavor is sour with cherry, apricot, and peach tartness.
Mouthfeel is light to medium with strong dryness.
Good stuff.

500 ml bottle into a tulip snifter. Had 6/25/19. Replaces old rating only from 6/5/16, which was the original Ruby that I don’t believe was aged in oak foeders.
Pours a ruddy amber color, somewhat cloudy, with a one inch foamy head and some slick, foamy lacing. Aromas of cherries, malt, oak, some red wine and grapes, light black pepper. Smells lightly tart and sour. The flavor starts with a good amount of sourness up front, then malt, light cherries, oak, some grapes and red wine, some caramel. It’s tart. Smooth, a good medium body, well carbonated.
Less fruit forward than many of the style, but on- point otherwise. Well balanced with a nice amount of tartness and sourness. Enjoyable.

Darker than expected our, burgundy instead of, you know, ruby. No head. Smells has plenty of oak, a good amount of barrel funk, especially as it warms, cherry that is juicy, flowers, and lacto. Taste starts tart and funk then settles into cherry juice with lacto and oak, then a much needed jolt in the end with funk and a moderate sour pucker. Goes down easy, with entertaining funk and tartness
