A: Very dark brown almost black. Two finger head, great lacing.
S: Chocolate and coffee, but some what muted.
T: Dark chocolate, coffee a touch of vanilla. Nice earthy hops mellow out the malt sweetness.
M: Full body appropriate carbination.
D: Dinkability is high, more of a American Stout than a RISS @ only 6.5 % ABV.
Nice drinkable after dinner beer, but I would not want any more than a pint.

Pours a very dark black colored body, with a brown colored head, very frothy. Has a chocolaty, cofffee aroma. A bitter chocolate, and coffee taste. It's a stout, there is no doubt. Not my favorite.

Sample at the brewpub: This beer is jet black with a medium and rocky tan head with good retention. Very little lacing is apparent. Robust coffee aroma, with some malt here and there. The body is not in the same league with most of the good beers of the style but it is close. Coffee and malt flavors dominate, and there is some hops presence as well. The finish is roasty with a lingering coffee aftertaste. Barely "Imperial" in some regards, but a passable beer nonetheless.
