Deep violet, on its way to being purple is the color of the concoction poured out of a pint can into a clear glass Imperial pint mug. Despite an abundance of carbonation, there's no real head on top. The aroma is almost winelike, rich with fruits and some alcohol. There's plenty of body for a Fruited Kettle Sour, no doubt thanks to the inclusion of black currents in the mixture. But they also bring their own taste character and it overpowers the boysenberry, which has top billing. Boysenberry obsessed drinkers may be disappointed in that trade, body for boysenberry flavor. Some lovers of this style may be annoyed that this doesn't drink lightly and packs a wine ABV (9.6%). But, it has a true Fruited Kettle sourness to it, especially at the finish and that is impressive, considering the fruitiness and alcohol within. Perhaps as close to a red wine as a beer can get, this should be appreciated for its body, complexity of tastes, the sour beer character and that the high ABV, for a beer, is barely noticed.
