Month + week old can poured into a tulip.
Pale gold body with mild haze, fully opaque. Minimal head but a moderately creamy top and some spotty lacing. Looks like a pretty standard hazy.
Dank and citrusy aroma with a wheaty backbone (though I know it’s a rice beer). Some berry and grape. Pretty mild but pleasant enough. And again, it’s all in the NE IPA realm.
I really like the taste because of the residual sweetness, citrus juice, and herbal greens, but it’s admittedly raw and muddled. Fruit salad of citrus, tropical fruits, and stone fruits, with varying degrees of ripeness. A little pith and bitterness on the backend, but an almost lactose sweetness (the good kind) before you get there. Not refined or nuanced, just tasty. Maybe a little bit of resin and grapefruit, and a little candied fruit sweetness, but yet again, not a lot of West Coast character flowing through.
Soft, silky, and well carbonated. Provides a nice coating on the teeth and tongue and is just a touch sticky/chewy. Great mouth feel.
I’m honestly not sure what this beer is supposed to be. Just from an enjoyment perspective, there’s a lot to like. But categorically, it’s all over the place. And if West Coast IPA is the intention, it misses the mark completely. Comes off, to me, as a full-on Southern hazy. With that perspective, it’s pretty tasty.

Canned 1/12/21.
L: Pours much more hazy than expected for what is advertised as "similar to a west coast style IPA." The white head vanishes fairly quickly, and the lacing is spotty.
S: Lemon and grapefruit, very pleasant.
T: More lemon and grapefruit, but not bitter piney grapefruit. Slightly dry finish. Still waiting for the west coast action.
F: Medium mouthfeel, appropriate carbonation.
O: Not bad at all, but barely in the west coast family. Smooth and very drinkable for the ABV, but it neither looks nor tastes anything like a real west coast IPA. Can't tell what the rice element brings; maybe it softens what would otherwise be a more abrasive flavor profile.
