AROMA: Sweet with fair amounts of malt and caramel, followed by modest amounts of bread. This is a delicious smelling beer that makes me want to dive right in!

APPEARANCE: Pours a slightly cloudy, golden brown with a tall (4-finger), loosely-frothy, white head that dissipates moderately-slow with significant lacing. It looks great in my clear-glass wheat beer glass!

TASTE: Sweet with flavors of caramel, malt, and a touch of honey during the finish. Sure, the flavor profile is a bit limited, but the few flavors that are there, work extremely well together and are at the right intensity. Honestly, this is one of those times where less is more.

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-bodied with a somewhat smooth texture. I would rate carbonation as average. Although, when I first started drinking the beer, I was considering rating it as above-average carbonation. And now that I'm almost done with the beer, it seems a little soft, and is closer to below-average carbonation. That's something that I find a bit odd, but in reality, it doesn't really change my impression of the beer, as I find it to be extremely pleasing in all cases.

OVERALL: This is definitely a "sleeper" beer, as I wasn't expecting to enjoy it anywhere near as much as I do. I find this beer to smell great, feel great in the mouth, and have a nice balance of pleasing flavors. Which, in my book, makes it a people-pleaser easy-drinker. And when it comes to Oktoberfest, that's exactly what you want ... a beer that you can drink all day without getting tired of it. This one is definitely going on my "must buy" list, next year.

NOTE: This site classifies it as a Märzen, and even though the can classifies itself as a Festbier, I think the classification of Märzen is more appropriate. Mostly, because Festbiers tend to be on the drier side and this beer is not dry at all.

Toasty and warm.. very very drinkable....lighter than most marzens...a fest-marzen hybrid if you will..

Fresh and local...drinking on the beach in a non traditional setting...beach and waves...

Still delicious....

 

 

After drinking and enjoying primarily German Oktoberfest beers (Marzen and Fest style) I will switch to a domestic version from Florida. Pours a deep golden to amber with a slight haze.

The aroma seems to indicate a higher hop profile, as well as a fruity profile. I am concerned.

Sure enough, I don't think anyone would confuse this with an Oktoberfest bier that you would enjoy at a celebration. There are hints of dough on the palate, but the hop profile and fruity sourness in the aftertaste are distracting. I do enjoy the flavor, it is just not something that I expect for the style. This is a flavorful "miss" in my opinion.

 

 

Traditional amber pour with a beige head. Caramel malt, mild bitter hops, and thin bread in the nose. Taste has lighter caramel malt, mild bread and hops near the finish but honey dollops the finish. Very light and smooth, easy drinking marzen. It is not the most exciting rendition, but solid.

My continuing quest to drink Marzen-style beer/Festbiers landed me here. I used a traditional dimple mug; the temperature is around 44 degrees. The pour created an off-white creamy and airy head with excellent retention. The slow dissipation left gobs of lacing on the glass. The color charts around SRM 14, medium-dark amber with rusty orange hues. I am not seeing a traditional Marzen-style color in this beer. The transparent beer shows some carbonation. The appearance of the beer is excellent.

The aromas are floral, bread crust, caramel, nuttiness, and some phenolic notes. The nose on this beer is unusual; not what I was expecting. The beer seems to have this unique pharmaceutical/mineral quality.

I taste caramel, bready, nuttiness, toasted crackers, floral esters, a hint of band-aids, some earthiness, and toasted cereal.

The mouthfeel is soft and creamy, yet a touch dry.

The body is medium, has soft carbonation, and has a quick finish.

Some hops are noticeable, and the caramel flavor refrained. It has this mineral quality in beer making it different than most Marzen I have consumed. I am still enjoying the beer, nonetheless.

 

Poured from 16oz can into a dimpled mug. Canned 7/22/21.

Appearance: medium-dark orange hue with a little haze and a thick head of frothy ivory foam atop. It looks great!

Smell: light aroma that is malty with a little bit of toasty character and a little sweetness. Not too bad.

Taste: there's a bit more complexity to the flavor than to the aroma. I'm getting some bread, some light toastiness, and even a little caramel here. The biscuity note is present but very light, which I appreciate. It's actually a pretty good example of the style.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a big carbonation that is pretty creamy, although not as creamy as the level of effervescence would suggest.

Overall: for a Märzen, this is quite a drinkable beer indeed. Maybe a bit heavy to quaff liter after liter, but still, very good.

I like the can artwork, great use of color. The pour is copper colored. The taste is grains, malt, & caramel. Cheers! B

I tried a 4oz sampler of this beer at the brewery. It poured a clear rich amber with off white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had caramel malt notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with sweet malt base and even grain finish. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.
