Notes via stream of consciousness: It's poured a very hazy deep amber colored body beneath a finger's width of off-white foam. The aroma is malty and lightly hoppy with some citrus. The flavor perks up but basically follow with the malt dominating the citrusy hops. That's OK, I'm fine with that, but I find it to be more of a pale ale than an IPA except for a slightly higher alcohol content. I'm getting notes of orange, pine, apricot, flowers, spiciness, and mild pink grapefruit. The malt has a light caramel component to it that's nice, and its grainy sweetness works well with the hops. This is a pleasant old school IPA like I used to find all over the place way back in 1996. in the mouth it's medium bodied and crisp. I'm not sure why this is so hazy but I'm guessing they just don't filter, although you could still get it clearer with time and perhaps some Biofine. The head held up OK, and it's left some lacing behind but it's not great. The intense haze bothers me more than the lack of head retention and lacing though. I can still get behind this beer but it's certainly nothing that I'd go out of the way for.
