Amber orange in color with a loose, large bubbled white head. It leaves behind a decent lace with a solid "cling-ring".
Clean malty aroma with a slight metallic edge. A mild citrus hop aroma is present too. A bit of breadiness is also noted.
Very clean taste. Light bodied with mild carbonation. Biscuity malt with a nice hop balance. I could drink a bunch of these and thanks to bennybrew, I just might. Nice beer Jon.

The color is light amber/dark gold. It has significant cloudiness. No notable head and nearly no spottiness on the lace end.

I like the aroma of hoppy flowers. Low malt in the background.

For the tapped version, this a thin beer even though it has a very low level of carbonation. The flavor is lightly sweet even though the bitterness is high for the style.

A: Pours an amber color, quite dark for a pale. Lots of sediment floating in a very foggy glass. Sea foam white head which disappears quicky, and some pretty lacing follows.

S: Nice hoppy grapefruit aroma. Some sweet malts show up too, along with some Maine pine.

T: Sour and bitter. Watery, with just the slightest hop profile coming through.

M: Overly carbonated, acidic and stinging on the tongue.

D: Absolutely awful to choke down. Hopefully this was just a bad bottle, thought I'm hesitant to pick up another.

Explodes out of bottle and pours a five+ finger head that goes quickly and leaves some lace. Nearly clear amber color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Bitter hoppy nose. Starts sweet becoming sweet and hoppy with little aftertaste. Better than their Gold. $1.83 for a 12oz bottle from Maine Coast Brewery Bar Harbor, Me.

The first of four beers I drank that we're brought back from the great state of Maine by a very thoughtful girl, fellow BA Joelle.

Poured out of the bottle with an abnormally gigantic head. I literally had to wait several minutes for it to die down the slightest bit so I could pour the rest of the beer. When all was said and done, it had a nice frothy off-white head and a golden-orange color. Little flakes floating around amidst the carbonation that settled to the bottom of the glass by the end of the beer. NIce, crisp, hoppy aroma. Some lemony citrus notes. The taste was even more lemony, reminiscent of the taste of a hefe or witbier. Somewhat dry mouthfeel from this light to medium bodied beer. Yet, the drinkability was high. Interesting example of a pale ale, not bad by any means.

12oz bottle from a Xmas gift sampler of Maine brews from my friend Joe. Thanks!

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a frothy 1 1/2" light beige head above orangey copper brew. Lacing is spotty light foam left here and there. Aroma is slightly earthy, spicy pine. Taste starts where the nose leaves off, and exhibits a reasonably well-balanced character for an APA, and then the bitterness comes on a bit in the close. Mouthfeel and drinkability are both okay. Enjoyable middle-of-the-road APA.

Precipice Pale Ale- 12oz bottle (straight from Bar Harbor)
Maine Coast Brewing Co.

Appearance- ruddy brown with a weak head and some carbonation.
Smell- light malt and a slighty grassy/ nutty hop aroma. Very light on the nose.
Taste- watery with a faint flavoring of earthy/ grassy hops. A slight malt that blends in. No aftertaste.

Overall- a humdrum lawnmower beer at best. Worth a try but not going to knock any socks off. I guess a good beer to throw back after climbing the Precipice.

Hazy golden color with a full large bubbled beige head and very active carbonation. If this beer is not infected/oxidized then it has an Intense pine/spruce hop aroma. Infected/oxidized character dominates in my book unless this is overhopped so badly.... Light and overly airy due to overcarbonation.

Most likely infected and will review again if possible...

Pours with a thin, inconsistent head. Kind of a deep apple cider look and has a tempting malty and alpine fresh odor. The taste is of pine and grain, constantly wavering on which flavor to offer. Very smooth, good beer. Finishes very dry with a little pucker kick.

The beer pours a lightly foggy deep amber or copper color with the head portly in size, frothy in texture and a winsome light tan in color, lace a fine sheet to seal off the glass. Sweet malt dominates the nose, fresh and crisp, start is lightly sweet, fair to middling malt presence, top middling in feel. Finish is prickly in its acidity, the hops benign, very dry aftertaste, quite drinkable and a fine session beer if one were lucky enough to have it readily available, my thanks to the fine “BA” bennybrew for this sample.

Copper hue with a mild haze. Thin, spotty, yet persistent ivory white head yields sparse lace. Pronounced, vibrant hop nose of lemon citrus accompanied by soft, sweet tangerine hits the nose upfront, then tapers into a static, lightly perfumed, floral note. Subtle, honeyish sweetness and grainy biscuit undertone. Pleasant, and well rounded aromawise. The flavor extends seemlessly from the aroma, with an incipient breeze of caramel and honey notes emerging incipiently. Predominantly lemony hop presence readily ensues, adding a mildly tart, citric contrast to malt sweetness. Well integrated bready malt undertone augments late, becoming akin to savory, herb dusted cracker. Light in body, and a notch shy in viscosity to support the firm, balanced malt profile. Finishes dry, tangy, and citric, with a fleeting impression of salt tinged lime. A unique brew that agreeably lacks the obtrusive, pithy grapefruit character of many one dimensional American pales, and opts instead for a stately, lemon and biscuit balance. Precipice Pale is tasty, pleasantly understated and superbly drinkable. Thanks to Bennybrew for the delivery of this fine brew!

Another selection courtesy of bennybrew. This one poured a deep golden without a head. Just a few white bubbles and a thin ring around the sides. Smell was huge floral hops with some tasty and very refreshing smelling grapefruit and a tad bit of biscuity malts rounding it out. Fresh taste full of peachy fruit like hops and a toasty malt middle. The finish was a little bitter and watered my palate. The taste was a tad thin however without any of the flavors really taking command of the beer. Carbonation was minimal. Overall another quaffable selection from Maine Coast. Perhaps after another I will know what "getting close to your nemesis" means.
